So, I got married!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It would take forever for me to tell you every wonderful detail about this day, so I will just hit the highlights (you're welcome)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Our wedding was in a favorite place of mine, Snowmass, Colorado. My super nice relatives let us use their gorgeous backyard for our reception and the ceremony was in the local chapel. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Despite the forecast of rain, it was a beautiful, sunny day. Over 40 of our closest friends and family made the trip and we were so blessed to celebrate with them. The whole weekend was full of laughter, food, pedicures, hiking, exploring and did I mention food? It was everything we had hoped for and much more!</div>

I could give a thousand explanations about why I haven't blogged in so long. I could tell you how I had a busy summer with work, traveling, etc. But let's be honest- we all know how life can get busy and things just get put on the back burner. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Despite the lack of posting, I have done a few projects that I wanted to quickly document. I only have cell-phone pics of these so the quality isn't great, but this is just a quick upload-forgive me!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I was in desperate need of a new laptop since my 5 year old Dell that I paid like $300 for had a battery that wouldn’t charge, a screen that was breaking off and I’m pretty sure every virus ever created! </p> <p>I hate making major purchases. I went back and forth forever on what kind of computer to buy. Do I spend a lot of money up front and get a laptop that will last me a long time even though I have no idea how to use one (Apple)? Or do I go with a PC which are familiar, much cheaper, but won’t last as long? Really I don’t use a computer all that much so a PC would have been fine, but in the end I fell victim to the shiny, sleek MacBook and bit the bullet. Call me a conformist…my only consolation is that hopefully I won’t have to repeat that buying process for at least 10 years! </p> <p>Well, I had to make sure this little guy would be nice and protected if I wanted it to last, so I made I cute little case for it. </p> <p> <a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-go7ysVCttLY/T6LmrBImPxI/AAAAAAAADxY/QlLCdpfRXTY/s1600-h/laptop%252520case%252520002%25255B2%25255D.jpg"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="laptop case 002" border="0" alt="laptop case 002" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-6tibM5D3NJM/T6LmsKYJd2I/AAAAAAAADxg/BnRt13_2pN4/laptop%252520case%252520002_thumb.jpg?imgmax=800" width="381" height="255"></a> </p> <p>I didn’t really search that hard for instructions on how to make this, so I pretty much just guessed my way through. I used duck cloth for the outside fabric and then just cotton fabric in a contrasting color for the inside. In between the layers I used heavy-duty fusible interfacing- 2 layers for extra padding. <a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-JQceyLKBVZc/T6LmuqGZEuI/AAAAAAAADxo/GeBWiobr5Go/s1600-h/laptop%252520case%252520003%25255B2%25255D.jpg"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="laptop case 003" border="0" alt="laptop case 003" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-AICpseSB2fg/T6LmvnMcm3I/AAAAAAAADxw/6tOicYHnrT4/laptop%252520case%252520003_thumb.jpg?imgmax=800" width="381" height="255"></a></p> <p>I added a few embellishments and there you have it! A new little laptop case! This is a pretty snug fit, I probably should have added about an inch to my measurements, but I kind of like that it is in there pretty tight. I also sewed in some elastic tabs and snaps to keep it closed. <a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-NTpcVMODZQE/T6LmwcLp3tI/AAAAAAAADx4/osSKgwLtJLU/s1600-h/laptop%252520case%252520008%25255B2%25255D.jpg"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="laptop case 008" border="0" alt="laptop case 008" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-ahLmQt6GS6o/T6Lmw7QnqfI/AAAAAAAADyA/nqfI0fNERUU/laptop%252520case%252520008_thumb.jpg?imgmax=800" width="381" height="255"></a><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-FCKD03-miM0/T6Lmxdf20mI/AAAAAAAADyI/wXHneELeBGA/s1600-h/laptop%252520case%252520007%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px" title="laptop case 007" border="0" alt="laptop case 007" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-LDOxnOZJ52w/T6LmxzyS2jI/AAAAAAAADyQ/lYZh8IoQAvQ/laptop%252520case%252520007_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="243" height="356"></a></p> <p>I took it to work with me and one of my co-workers liked it so much, she asked me to make one for her! I was happy to and this one was even easier. I love this chevron fabric! </p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-zzb8okcwHTo/T6LmyZXETKI/AAAAAAAADyY/TcpuGhxbW4U/s1600-h/laptop%252520case%252520010%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px" title="laptop case 010" border="0" alt="laptop case 010" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-tc4-FuEg-28/T6LmzOityrI/AAAAAAAADyg/T2cYDDDEOv4/laptop%252520case%252520010_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="245" height="360"></a><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-7GvQgWog6zk/T6Lmzg9Mc7I/AAAAAAAADyo/mJEQAxjZ_R8/s1600-h/laptop%252520case%252520005%25255B2%25255D.jpg"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="laptop case 005" border="0" alt="laptop case 005" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-Sq4Fj4r3J78/T6Lm0NFj0FI/AAAAAAAADyw/OhygsEtBKHE/laptop%252520case%252520005_thumb.jpg?imgmax=800" width="381" height="255"></a></p> <p>And I found another use for those <a href="http://kindallscreations.blogspot.com/2011/09/burlap-hoop-wreath.html" target="_blank">giant buttons</a> my grandma gave me! </p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-zzb8okcwHTo/T6LmyZXETKI/AAAAAAAADy4/aS1MX9r4us0/s1600-h/laptop%252520case%252520010%25255B2%25255D.jpg"></a></p> Kindallhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09991229314183670027noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2583969838469103094.post-2285280889747688962012-04-19T13:15:00.001-07:002012-04-19T13:15:11.707-07:00Some wedding details<p> </p> <p>I was enlisted to help with a really fun project for the reception. The bride and groom both come from a legacy of strong marriages. She wanted to showcase this somehow so we came up with the idea of creating a photo gallery. She was able to find pictures of parents, grandparents, great grandparents and I think great-great grandparents. We printed the pictures off on 11X14 paper and used spray adhesive to wrap them around foam board cut to 8X10. I inked the edges and then gave them one coat of mod podge. It created a sort of gallery wrapped canvas look without the expense. </p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/--MyVE33ufAc/T5ByBz8kTyI/AAAAAAAADto/7iw_BlbrDCY/s1600-h/DSC_0664%25255B2%25255D.jpg"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="DSC_0664" border="0" alt="DSC_0664" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-ykRNx-hPUc8/T5ByGK5EoAI/AAAAAAAADtw/OLJ2EkvP4Dg/DSC_0664_thumb.jpg?imgmax=800" width="381" height="255"></a><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-SkK1VJqOiqk/T5ByHaq0bwI/AAAAAAAADt4/jczNPrFYpG4/s1600-h/DSC_0663%25255B2%25255D.jpg"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="DSC_0663" border="0" alt="DSC_0663" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-j4jDcwScfZw/T5ByIoW4xTI/AAAAAAAADuA/R8N9v54iFZY/DSC_0663_thumb.jpg?imgmax=800" width="381" height="255"></a></p> <p>We took all the pictures and arranged them around one of their engagement pictures on this backdrop. They are attached to the ribbon using duck tape. The banner just added some flare. Simple burlap pennants with stenciled letters sewn on a white ribbon. </p> <p>This was such a cool way to honor their families and acknowledge the legacy they come from! </p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-hec92F0H0-U/T5ByJYq8yTI/AAAAAAAADuI/l9hF2Oi_3nU/s1600-h/DSC_0707%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px" title="DSC_0707" border="0" alt="DSC_0707" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-fVptik2z3To/T5ByKajZMEI/AAAAAAAADuQ/bVsU1D4MzUw/DSC_0707_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="252" height="370"></a>It was neat to see people stop by to look at the pictures. This picture is really sweet. It’s the brides grandparents looking at the picture of themselves and their family. I believe they have been married for 66 years! They pretty much stood by this the entire reception telling everyone who the pictures were of. </p> <p> <a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-X_7HSnpmVFs/T5ByLzRYTII/AAAAAAAADuY/ns_y_s-loY4/s1600-h/DSC_0708%25255B2%25255D.jpg"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="DSC_0708" border="0" alt="DSC_0708" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-KOMTL6SHBtE/T5ByNdLQr_I/AAAAAAAADug/f6Y7yONS8ys/DSC_0708_thumb.jpg?imgmax=800" width="381" height="255"></a> </p> <p>This was the guest book. Guest were able to sign their name, write and encouraging thought, etc on monogrammed cards and then hang it on the tree. She had a sort of Cherry Blossom theme, so this went nicely with that!</p> <p><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-dUAMQC-pOdk/T5ByPqOUUfI/AAAAAAAADuo/HBc45gQPCq0/s1600-h/DSC_0743%25255B2%25255D.jpg"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="DSC_0743" border="0" alt="DSC_0743" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-wlMZo9rSles/T5ByRWCLmMI/AAAAAAAADuw/3xV3xN9yTTU/DSC_0743_thumb.jpg?imgmax=800" width="381" height="255"></a></p> <p>The reception was held in the foyer of the church, which is quite large, but she did a great job at making the room feel a lot more intimate! Isn’t this beautiful! </p> <p><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-K0-Ei0bJLZg/T5BySjJyl6I/AAAAAAAADu4/8UI_UaKeHds/s1600-h/DSC_0711%25255B2%25255D.jpg"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="DSC_0711" border="0" alt="DSC_0711" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-6BFbZGjiQo0/T5ByTbrFpXI/AAAAAAAADvA/kEWtH2ENCf4/DSC_0711_thumb.jpg?imgmax=800" width="381" height="255"></a> </p> <p>In all, this wedding was so beautiful and very much representative of the Bride and Groom. Not bad for a 4 month engagement! </p> Kindallhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09991229314183670027noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2583969838469103094.post-17149274592171262312012-04-16T12:42:00.002-07:002012-04-16T19:13:45.700-07:00“Girl’s Only” shower and a must-have travel accessory<p> </p> <p>My friends wedding was this weekend! It was beautiful, elegant, fun and very special. I want to show you some of the cool details she added to make the day perfect, but I’ll save that for my next post. </p> <p>Right now, I want to tell you about the fun “girls only” shower we threw her a couple of days prior to the wedding. </p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-K5EWGlSYMrk/T4x2CUpAJSI/AAAAAAAADrg/kQ6dhuKWgKE/s1600-h/DSC_0678%25255B2%25255D.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="DSC_0678" border="0" alt="DSC_0678" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-OGBU1KGXEzo/T4x2C7l9bCI/AAAAAAAADro/I8q4B0cialQ/DSC_0678_thumb.jpg?imgmax=800" width="381" height="255" /></a></p> <p>It was on a Thursday night, so we had to make it a little later so people could make it from work/fighting Houston traffic. There were about 15 women total and we enjoyed some of Dean-na’s favorite snack foods including hummus and pita bread, Chili’s chips and salsa, mini fruit pizzas, <span class="Apple-style-span" style="-webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(26, 26, 26, 0.296875); -webkit-composition-fill-color: rgba(175, 192, 227, 0.230469); -webkit-composition-frame-color: rgba(77, 128, 180, 0.230469); ">and of course Chick-Fil-A nuggets! We also had an awesome cake that was brought in all the way from College Station.</span></p> <p> </p> <p> <a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-EJVlvm_9GFU/T4x2D-k3TfI/AAAAAAAADrw/Aa9cgmr0EEc/s1600-h/DSC_0670%25255B2%25255D.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="DSC_0670" border="0" alt="DSC_0670" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-yXNXEGHG16A/T4x2EaZ9hTI/AAAAAAAADr4/BJOHLmB2pBg/DSC_0670_thumb.jpg?imgmax=800" width="381" height="255" /></a><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-5m4jpl8JCbY/T4x2FQLu4cI/AAAAAAAADsA/WhiJG3sogCo/s1600-h/DSC_0671%25255B2%25255D.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="DSC_0671" border="0" alt="DSC_0671" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-tF025G9KVu0/T4x2F766reI/AAAAAAAADsI/WPBqank6-ck/DSC_0671_thumb.jpg?imgmax=800" width="381" height="255" /></a> </p> <p>I was in charge of decorations so I went with the ever popular tissue paper poms that I just tacked up on the wall along with a yarn/nail art piece I made awhile back. <a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-FyME51P-1fg/T4x2GdELcGI/AAAAAAAADsQ/suu7v_uJJfE/s1600-h/DSC_0672%25255B2%25255D.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="DSC_0672" border="0" alt="DSC_0672" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-6lhNg13owgU/T4x2G1lhDDI/AAAAAAAADsY/zqea8UCda18/DSC_0672_thumb.jpg?imgmax=800" width="381" height="255" /></a></p> <p>On the table we used the DIY cake stands (<a href="http://kindallscreations.blogspot.com/2011/10/cake-stands.html" target="_blank">see this post for the how-to)</a> and just some flowers. I also had pink hydrangeas set around the house. Pretty simple, but I think it worked even with our lack of serving pieces!</p> <p> </p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-IRdPILkIBX4/T4x2HhZBIqI/AAAAAAAADsg/OT_g7nV68as/s1600-h/DSC_0666%25255B2%25255D.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="DSC_0666" border="0" alt="DSC_0666" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-cD3vfbWEZqw/T4x2IMiwHHI/AAAAAAAADso/tZu7iG-EVeY/DSC_0666_thumb.jpg?imgmax=800" width="381" height="255" /></a></p> <p>After everyone got their fill of snack food, we opened gifts. She received a lot of nice things of course! </p> <p>I was able to make something that I had been wanting to try for a long time. I feel in love with<strong> </strong><a href="http://sew4home.com/projects/storage-solutions/914-travel-accessories-lingerie-caddy" target="_blank"><strong>this</strong></a> when I saw it on Pinterest, but never had a reason to make it until now. The lingerie caddy can be folded up to put in a suitcase and then hung up on a skirt hanger when you get to the hotel. <img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin-left: auto; border-left-width: 0px; margin-right: auto" title="DSC_0643" border="0" alt="DSC_0643" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-3eFLMjQP1CM/T4x2It5mQ_I/AAAAAAAADsw/GTvpjfIDDE0/DSC_0643_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="198" height="257" /></p> <p> </p> <p>I found the instructions to be very straightforward, and didn’t have any trouble except with the box pleats. For whatever reason, that was difficult to get the hang of, but after the first few, I had it down!</p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-LWxvMgyLZjs/T4x2JlH3LQI/AAAAAAAADs4/5G4AOo6R760/s1600-h/DSC_0659%25255B2%25255D.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="DSC_0659" border="0" alt="DSC_0659" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-NnlaMGEFbyU/T4x2KaDqFgI/AAAAAAAADtA/KNRq4rSyGDU/DSC_0659_thumb.jpg?imgmax=800" width="381" height="255" /></a></p> <p>I also monogrammed the back side of it with her new last name and put some fun things in the pockets! I was able to do this start to finish in about 4 hours. </p> <p> <a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-_eZeRjegFGs/T4x2LKJWdzI/AAAAAAAADtI/Msgu4OfOgTE/s1600-h/DSC_0649%25255B2%25255D.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="DSC_0649" border="0" alt="DSC_0649" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-CJsvb5_S33I/T4x2LiWhS7I/AAAAAAAADtQ/G1lUmSNvXfc/DSC_0649_thumb.jpg?imgmax=800" width="381" height="255" /></a> <a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-yCEfLC-xMFA/T4x2MDRR7jI/AAAAAAAADtY/S7O7KyD7n3c/s1600-h/DSC_0646%25255B6%25255D.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin-left: auto; border-left-width: 0px; margin-right: auto" title="DSC_0646" border="0" alt="DSC_0646" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-FVe1lwMq8go/T4x2MllOOjI/AAAAAAAADtg/g0VwJfI2124/DSC_0646_thumb%25255B4%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="199" height="292" /></a></p> <p>I think she really liked it and I hope it is something she can actually use for a long time. Not only can you use it for it’s intended purpose, but the pockets are different sizes so you could put jewelry, socks, electronic cords, hair accessories or any other small items you would like to keep together and not lose in the abyss of your suitcase! </p>Kindallhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09991229314183670027noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2583969838469103094.post-34674083900475030462012-03-26T08:51:00.001-07:002012-03-26T08:51:51.119-07:00Bridal Shower Hostess gifts<p> </p> <p><font face="Verdana">Remember my <a href="http://www.kindallscreations.blogspot.com/2012/01/monogrammed-art.html" target="_blank">friend who just got engaged</a>?</font></p> <p><font face="Verdana">Well, she is getting married in less than a month! This week we completed a big project. Between the 3 showers she is having, there are 22 hostesses. That is a lot of hostess gifts. She didn’t want to spend a ton of money, but still wanted them to be personal. We settled on making monogrammed hand towels for each hostess and I think they turned out nice!</font></p> <p> </p> <p><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-hIL-uNc_PGI/T3CQdN8c7wI/AAAAAAAACuY/xBlsny71S5c/s1600-h/Bridalshowerhostessgifts0085.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin-left: auto; border-left-width: 0px; margin-right: auto" title="Bridal shower hostess gifts 008" border="0" alt="Bridal shower hostess gifts 008" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-_pfxwhU8yiM/T3CQeRVxc-I/AAAAAAAACug/ieIfd0yUhU0/Bridalshowerhostessgifts008_thumb3.jpg?imgmax=800" width="322" height="480"></a></p> <p><font face="Verdana">We had a sort of assembly line going and in all it only took us about 4 hours to finish all 22 of them. The bride-to-be cut out all the letters, our other friend was in charge of ironing them on, and I zig-zag stitched around them with a contrasting thread color and sewed on the rick rack with a simple straight stitch. </font></p> <p><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin-left: auto; border-left-width: 0px; margin-right: auto" title="Bridal shower hostess gifts 005" border="0" alt="Bridal shower hostess gifts 005" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-6e9wifhMFb0/T3CQfC38V8I/AAAAAAAACuo/aAtOre0Re7E/Bridalshowerhostessgifts005_thumb5.jpg?imgmax=800" width="240" height="164"><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-EmnhVXlhdho/T3CQgdbf96I/AAAAAAAACuw/K5h8xCPsfaA/s1600-h/Bridalshowerhostessgifts0064.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin-left: auto; border-left-width: 0px; margin-right: auto" title="Bridal shower hostess gifts 006" border="0" alt="Bridal shower hostess gifts 006" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-YOtWVbdhiws/T3CQhFzoItI/AAAAAAAACu0/4RcH40X9hco/Bridalshowerhostessgifts006_thumb2.jpg?imgmax=800" width="161" height="240"></a></p> <p><font face="Verdana">What made this project even simpler was that we purchased the hand towels with a linen border already in place. I figured I didn't need another site that I felt like I had to keep up with. I probably still don't need it, but after so much talk about how great it is, I finally caved and joined up! <div><br /></div><div>So far I am enjoying it and I can tell it will be an endless source of inspiration. The downside is that I don't have an endless amount of time or money to spend on those inspirations. For now, I'm keeping it simple. One board for my projects, one for projects I want to do, one for recipes and another for home decor. Talk to me in a week to see if that has changed- better yet, follow me at <a href="http://pinterest.com/kindallw">http://pinterest.com/kindallw</a></div><div><br /></div><div>If you aren't on <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">Pinterest</span>, you are welcome to message me with your email and I will send you an invite. I hear requesting it from the site can take awhile, but a friend of mine sent me one and I got it immediately!</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>Happy Pining!</div><div><br /></div><div><span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">PS</span>: I'm hoping there is a way to not get emails every time someone re-pins something. Within an hour I had 11 emails- not cool</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div>Kindallhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09991229314183670027noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2583969838469103094.post-61413094000990772072012-01-10T13:14:00.001-08:002012-01-10T13:14:58.590-08:00Monogrammed Art<p> </p> <p>This is a different take on my <a href="http://www.kindallscreations.blogspot.com/2011/01/make-frame-make-some-art.html">previous fabric art</a>. </p> <p> <a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-wEMqDRHXpSo/TwyqNQ0VrvI/AAAAAAAACTk/1luBJnHvABQ/s1600-h/crafts00317.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="crafts 003-1" border="0" alt="crafts 003-1" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-i6AkMBGbb-U/TwyqNzMHCXI/AAAAAAAACTs/HDhkdff1EmQ/crafts0031_thumb5.jpg?imgmax=800" width="402" height="272"></a> </p> <p>For this I used Steam-a-Seam to adhere the monogram onto the base fabric. Then I stitched around each letter with a black zig-zag stitch to help it stand out a little. </p> <p>I just printed out the monogram and then traced it onto the steam a seam backing backwards. I am sure there is a more exact way to do this, but I have never been one for exactness.<a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-a-pleCqZOog/TwyqO52GLaI/AAAAAAAACT0/IQnbJdpgCBc/s1600-h/crafts00116.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="crafts 001-1" border="0" alt="crafts 001-1" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-4ws0tYEEbpA/TwyqPaoUpVI/AAAAAAAACT8/KBpbJTWagyo/crafts0011_thumb4.jpg?imgmax=800" width="405" height="274"></a></p> <p>This was actually a gift for a dear friend of mine who got engaged this weekend. It was waiting for them when they arrived at the “just engaged” party! </p> <p><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-LX8D89vf1v0/TwyqQECksaI/AAAAAAAACUE/bQzu921jSXg/s1600-h/crafts00615.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="crafts 006-1" border="0" alt="crafts 006-1" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-SRZQJcgIqe4/TwyqQ2SNUaI/AAAAAAAACUM/LCPf65cNTik/crafts0061_thumb3.jpg?imgmax=800" width="419" height="262"></a></p> <p>Her new last initial and there first initials. It started with a basic tool kit, but as the years have gone on, I guess I have proven myself worthy of the big stuff! </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">This year I received my very own Compound Miter Saw! Isn't it lovely?</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-pwf4OBnJ1Rk/TvyiKZinL0I/AAAAAAAACS8/HGdMuuTU2i8/s1600/DSC_0282.JPG"><img border="0" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-pwf4OBnJ1Rk/TvyiKZinL0I/AAAAAAAACS8/HGdMuuTU2i8/s400/DSC_0282.JPG" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">I'll admit, that blade is a little scary, but it sure does make this project I have been working on so much easier!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">I have been making a lot of these fabric wall hangings and I need frames for them to wrap around. Theses are so cheap, and take no time at all now that I don't have to manually saw each of the boards!</div><div style="text-align: center;">Just take a 1X2 piece of wood, figure out the size you want your frame to be and make 45 degree cuts. Once you have your 4 edges, just staple them together at the corners. I used 2 staples on each corner, then flip it over and put 2 more staples again at each corner. Pretty simple and very sturdy.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><div><br /></div></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-n5TEGBfdS-Y/TvyiK7LmYuI/AAAAAAAACTE/9xRtnPyhCJA/s1600/DSC_0283-1.JPG"><img border="0" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-n5TEGBfdS-Y/TvyiK7LmYuI/AAAAAAAACTE/9xRtnPyhCJA/s400/DSC_0283-1.JPG" /><br /></a>Now, on to the fun stuff!<br /><br />These fabric wall hangings are so much fun and the possibilities are endless. What I love about this is that you don't have to use a lot of fabric so you can raid the remnant section at Hobby Lobby and find all sorts of fun fabric without paying a ton and having a lot left over.<br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">I just cut out whatever shape I want, lay that over a contrasting fabric, sew around the edges and then add some detail! Once everything is sewn on, just stretch it across your frame and staple it to the back. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"> Here are some examples. I really love them and they make great gifts!</div><div><br /></div><div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">Here are some up close</div><div style="text-align: center; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; "><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-nVKsWEpcL1E/TvylqXgLOrI/AAAAAAAACTQ/B3CnJZKacts/s1600/DSC_0304.JPG" style="text-align: left; "><img src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-tRBUecl8nwI/TvylqrbC1RI/AAAAAAAACTg/pln0-CXVxi0/s320/DSC_0287.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5691606181718709522" style="text-align: left;display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; cursor: pointer; width: 214px; height: 320px; " /><img src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-nVKsWEpcL1E/TvylqXgLOrI/AAAAAAAACTQ/B3CnJZKacts/s320/DSC_0304.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5691606176371522226" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); text-align: center; display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; cursor: pointer; width: 214px; height: 320px; " /></a></div><div style="text-align: center; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; "><div style="text-align: left;"><span><u><br /></u></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span><u><br /></u></span></div>And here are some others I did ...</div><div></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-OE77sxrcgDw/TvyiKP3lbMI/AAAAAAAACSs/jIXhcOIG_RY/s1600/crafts1.jpg"></a><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-OE77sxrcgDw/TvyiKP3lbMI/AAAAAAAACSs/jIXhcOIG_RY/s1600/crafts1.jpg"><img border="0" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-OE77sxrcgDw/TvyiKP3lbMI/AAAAAAAACSs/jIXhcOIG_RY/s400/crafts1.jpg" /></a></div></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px"></div><div style="clear:both; text-align:CENTER"><a href="http://picasa.google.com/blogger/" target="ext"><img src="http://photos1.blogger.com/pbp.gif" alt="Posted by Picasa" style="border: 0px none ; padding: 0px; background: transparent none repeat scroll 0% 50%; -moz-background-clip: initial; -moz-background-origin: initial; -moz-background-inline-policy: initial;" align="middle" border="0" /></a></div></div>Kindallhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09991229314183670027noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2583969838469103094.post-45327090747751536472011-12-31T09:04:00.000-08:002011-12-31T09:04:00.434-08:00Easy felt bunting banner<div style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-cmG3OcLzV6I/TvydyGrPUPI/AAAAAAAACSg/yLiM0qcMV8Y/s1600/DSC_0208.JPG"><img border="0" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-cmG3OcLzV6I/TvydyGrPUPI/AAAAAAAACSg/yLiM0qcMV8Y/s400/DSC_0208.JPG" /></a><br />For my roommates Birthday, I made this easy felt banner.<br /><br />Basically, I cut some triangles out of felt and sewed them on to some thick bias tape.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hZuEX1DjV_s/TvydxnsTQHI/AAAAAAAACSY/QakbdbUA0lc/s1600/DSC_0215.JPG"><img border="0" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hZuEX1DjV_s/TvydxnsTQHI/AAAAAAAACSY/QakbdbUA0lc/s400/DSC_0215.JPG" /></a> </div><div style="text-align: center;">Then I cut the letters out of felt and just stuck them on to the flag.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Rw6vP56fiu8/TvydxTeDajI/AAAAAAAACSI/bkNZfWfnhKg/s1600/DSC_0214.JPG"><img border="0" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Rw6vP56fiu8/TvydxTeDajI/AAAAAAAACSI/bkNZfWfnhKg/s400/DSC_0214.JPG" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">I didn't sew those on because I figured I can re-use this banner for all sorts of occasions. You can learn more about her ministry <a href="http://www.hischerishedones.org/">here</a>.<o:p></o:p></p> <p class="MsoNormal">The single mother ministry is what we were focusing on this Saturday.<span> </span>To support themselves and their families, the women are taught how to knit and sew.<span> </span>Trena works with the mothers to advertise their products and since she has been in the states, she is trying to sell as much merchandise as possible for them!<span> </span>That’s what Saturday was about. Come, eat and buy! <o:p></o:p></p><br />We decided early on that we would serve a little cake, fruit and tea.<span> </span>Nothing too big, just a nibble! And for decorations, it would mainly be just things we had on hand, plus some fun fabric for the table.<span> </span>I was in charge of making cake platters since we needed some height on the table.<br /><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></p> <p class="MsoNormal">The fabric that was chosen was hot pink zebra stripes<span> </span>and a little bit of hot pink and green floral.<span> </span>I wanted to match the fabric, but not be overly matchy-matchy either!<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal">These were actually really easy to make and cost a total of $17 for 3 stands.<span> </span>The way they were put together allows for them to be taken apart for storage and could be repainted to match any event. <o:p></o:p></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p> <p class="MsoNormal">Here is what I did: </p> <p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpFirst" style="text-align: left;text-indent: -0.25in; "><!--[if !supportLists]--><span><span>1.<span style="font:7.0pt "Times New Roman""> </span></span></span>Buy 3 wooden plaques- Hobby Lobby<o:p></o:p></p> <p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="text-align: left;text-indent: -0.25in; "><!--[if !supportLists]--><span><span>2.<span style="font:7.0pt "Times New Roman""> </span></span></span>Spray paint them white<o:p></o:p></p> <p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="text-align: left;text-indent: -0.25in; "><!--[if !supportLists]--><span><span>3.<span style="font:7.0pt "Times New Roman""> </span></span></span>Buy 3 candle sticks of various heights (I already had 2 I found at goodwill) the other was from HOB LOB<o:p></o:p></p> <p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="text-align: left;text-indent: -0.25in; "><!--[if !supportLists]--><span><span>4.<span style="font:7.0pt "Times New Roman""> </span></span></span><!--[endif]-->Spray paint them whatever color your heart desires!<o:p></o:p></p> <p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="text-align: left;text-indent: -0.25in; "><!--[if !supportLists]--><span><span>5.<span style="font:7.0pt "Times New Roman""> </span></span></span>After the tops were dry, I wanted to make them a little more festive.<span> </span>I grabbed some fun scrapbook paper – in zebra print and houndstooth, and modge podged them to the tops.<span> </span>2 coats of m.p was all it took.<o:p></o:p></p> <p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="text-indent:-.25in;mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1"><span><span><span style="font:7.0pt "Times New Roman""> </span></span></span><img src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-tesbArrkdEE/TpNeiQqqj-I/AAAAAAAABxI/JxPAhdvhNT0/s400/DSC_1286.JPG" border="0" alt="" /><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3uDkHNVk0iQ/TpNei6YM6SI/AAAAAAAABxY/rhzvzy-FjLk/s1600/DSC_1289.JPG"><img border="0" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3uDkHNVk0iQ/TpNei6YM6SI/AAAAAAAABxY/rhzvzy-FjLk/s400/DSC_1289.JPG" /></a></p><p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="text-indent:-.25in;mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1"><img src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3EEyGf-BjWw/TpNeiqfOkAI/AAAAAAAABxQ/wi5gceIdFpY/s400/DSC_1292.JPG" border="0" alt="" /></p><p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="text-indent:-.25in;mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1">To put the stands together, I first drilled a small hole in the tops and the sticks. Not only is it orange (and I'm an Aggie), but the room itself has almost no natural light so it was always so dark in there. The table is basically a dumping ground for mail and other junk and the coat rack was overflowing with jackets and random hats that only get used during rodeo time!</div><br /><div style="MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; TEXT-ALIGN: center"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-kCB9PrUGR3A/TkrD5Iivg9I/AAAAAAAABu0/fCX7-q7N6zQ/s1600/DSC_1210.JPG"><img alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-kCB9PrUGR3A/TkrD5Iivg9I/AAAAAAAABu0/fCX7-q7N6zQ/s320/DSC_1210.JPG" border="0" /></a><br />I've been wanting to get on the grey-train for awhile so I went to Lowes, picked out a color and went with it. Honestly, I spent about 5 minutes looking at paint samples before I just picked one. Hardly any thought at all. And I actually really like the color. It has a little bit more blue than I wanted, but because the lighting is so bad in here, I really don't think any color will be true so no biggie. </div><br /><br /><div style="MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; TEXT-ALIGN: center"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-UuU2XakSyKc/TkrD5kVgkrI/AAAAAAAABu8/r0cuVPJ2TcQ/s1600/DSC_1217.JPG"><img alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-UuU2XakSyKc/TkrD5kVgkrI/AAAAAAAABu8/r0cuVPJ2TcQ/s320/DSC_1217.JPG" border="0" /></a><br />Once I had the grey on, I knew it needed a little something more, so I painted on some stripes! We went for 2 weeks to be exposed to the culture and to minister to some children in orphanages there that our church supports. <img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5627432465765468962" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PdrxZFWhVsQ/ThioAx9ziyI/AAAAAAAABtk/FIocZ1CD33I/s320/IMG_3287.JPG" border="0" /><br /><br />It was an incredible time that changed so many things about how I want to live my life. The main orphanage that we spent most of our time in was called <a href="http://www.mikeedenministries.org/">Eden Orphanages</a>. It is a small orphanage that was started by a farmer from Waller, Texas. <img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5627432482583116178" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-USOiTTl9QoE/ThioBwnceZI/AAAAAAAABt0/uCfQYYxoA1k/s320/IMG_3245.JPG" border="0" />Mike and his wife Sylvia have spent the better part of their marriage investing in the lives of children half a world away. Mike, despite his recent battle with brain tumors, still makes bi-annual trips to Africa to oversee the orphanages' operation. He is using his knowledge of farming to help teach the kids and workers how to plant vegetables, raise cattle, rabbits and chickens. By doing this, the orphanage is virtually self-sustainable. Whatever is not used for the children, is sold to pay the salaries of the matrons and other workers.<br /><br />I was in awe of these kids and after hearing some of their stories of where they came from and the conditions they were living in, I couldn't believe they still had these beautiful smiles! I truly saw the joy of Lord in them.<br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5627432470327250082" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-FyQetvGOTSs/ThioBC9azKI/AAAAAAAABts/H00_xgjLtgA/s320/IMG_3311.JPG" border="0" /><br /><br />As much as I wanted to go back this year, my job would not allow it this summer. I wanted to send a little something for the girls and had an idea! The girls over there are not allowed to have long hair when attending school. In fact, they have to shave their head because of lice, lack of water and other factors. I noticed that some of the girls had these little head bands, just plain fabric they would tie around their heads. I figured I could do something like that, but add some girly-ness to them. What little girl wouldn't love a colorful, flowered headband?!<br /><br />The orphanage has taken in a few more girls since I was there so I had to make 36 of them. It was a labor of love, but one that will hopefully bring a little smile to their faces.<br /><br />I purchased the cloth headbands and started off by cutting 36 circles out of fabric scraps I had.<br /><br /><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7eBrkMApWHE/ThimAmEusHI/AAAAAAAABss/iHM4sTsYLtM/s1600/DSC_0788.JPG"><img alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7eBrkMApWHE/ThimAmEusHI/AAAAAAAABss/iHM4sTsYLtM/s320/DSC_0788.JPG" border="0" /></a> <br /><div>Sew around the circle with a basic needle and thread<br /><br /><br /><div style="MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; TEXT-ALIGN: center"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-BtgHVwLBy7Q/ThimAuPNzRI/AAAAAAAABs0/7ZAhb1TmgCc/s1600/DSC_0790.JPG"><img alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-BtgHVwLBy7Q/ThimAuPNzRI/AAAAAAAABs0/7ZAhb1TmgCc/s320/DSC_0790.JPG" border="0" /></a> </div>When you get all the way around, pull the thread to gather the fabric together and then sew the middle to secure it.<br /><br /><br /><div style="MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; TEXT-ALIGN: center"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-nto2wbXrKOY/ThimAxGeBTI/AAAAAAAABs8/Rn6-JSTxbmc/s1600/DSC_0793.JPG"><img alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-nto2wbXrKOY/ThimAxGeBTI/AAAAAAAABs8/Rn6-JSTxbmc/s320/DSC_0793.JPG" border="0" /></a> </div>Sew the flower onto the headband. <br />I have been collecting old chairs from various places over the past few months for a special project. After I found my last one a few weeks ago I was able to finish it out.
<br />
<br />These were the chairs before, plus one that I had previously refurnished that you can see in this <a href="http://kindallscreations.blogspot.com/2010/10/random.html">post
<br /></a><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://kindallscreations.blogspot.com/2010/10/random.html"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: none; "></span></a><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/--PEQv7A8aV0/Tb8nBQlHFeI/AAAAAAAABkA/kG2hrQSlN6g/s1600/DSC_0343.JPG"><img alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/--PEQv7A8aV0/Tb8nBQlHFeI/AAAAAAAABkA/kG2hrQSlN6g/s320/DSC_0343.JPG" border="0" /></a> <a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-q6fw6ge0KD4/Tb8nA5ne06I/AAAAAAAABj4/6DYN-qiYMZM/s1600/DSC_0268.JPG"><img alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-q6fw6ge0KD4/Tb8nA5ne06I/AAAAAAAABj4/6DYN-qiYMZM/s320/DSC_0268.JPG" border="0" /></a> </div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: none; ">I got one from Goodwill for $6 and the other one was $2 from the Habitat ReStore</span></div>
<br />After painting, glazing, and a little woodworking, I joined the 3 chairs together with scrap wood and metal braces behind the legs. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zu1nAkvUVHo/Tb8nAwd8H2I/AAAAAAAABjw/edGwXYhn8OU/s1600/DSC_0372.JPG"><img alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zu1nAkvUVHo/Tb8nAwd8H2I/AAAAAAAABjw/edGwXYhn8OU/s320/DSC_0372.JPG" border="0" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">I used 2 king sized pillows for the cushion, and covered them in this awesome fabric.</div>
<br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ugmwRJF6hyk/Tb8m_60ghUI/AAAAAAAABjY/zPHVVsa16vQ/s1600/DSC_0563.JPG"><img alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ugmwRJF6hyk/Tb8m_60ghUI/AAAAAAAABjY/zPHVVsa16vQ/s320/DSC_0563.JPG" border="0" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br /><div style="text-align: center;">Now I have a fun, colorful, little bench! </div>
<br />
<br /><div style="MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; TEXT-ALIGN: center"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ryv7FgrnK4E/Tb8nAECE5NI/AAAAAAAABjg/S5KI7bK-joM/s1600/DSC_0559.JPG"><img alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ryv7FgrnK4E/Tb8nAECE5NI/AAAAAAAABjg/S5KI7bK-joM/s320/DSC_0559.JPG" border="0" /></a>
<br />Isn't it so cute!</div><div style="text-align: center;">I really wanted to add arms to both ends, but that proved to be a little beyond my skill level. Maybe one day!</div>
<br /><div style="MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; TEXT-ALIGN: center"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-AankugD7HMg/Tb8nAQB9HVI/AAAAAAAABjo/spAShQJ-CcA/s1600/DSC_0555.JPG"><img alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-AankugD7HMg/Tb8nAQB9HVI/AAAAAAAABjo/spAShQJ-CcA/s320/DSC_0555.JPG" border="0" /></a>
<br />It was originally going in the living room, but the colors match my bedroom so perfectly!
<br />
<br /></div><div style="MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; TEXT-ALIGN: center">Plus, I have another project in the works for the living room...
<br />
<br /><img src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-vpeuN94D8Uw/Tb8ntHjdxcI/AAAAAAAABkQ/GtQMtM9uxzk/s320/DSC_0546.JPG" style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 214px; height: 320px;" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5602240117547582914" />This took me 4 hours on Sunday. Hopefully the rest won't be so bad!</div>
<br />
<br /><div>
<br /></div><div><div style="text-align: center;">I hope you like my bench! It was pretty easy to do, the hardest part was collecting the chairs. And, if I ever want to separate the chairs again, I can. I didn't have to make any real structural changes to them!</div><div style="text-align: center;">

There was really nothing special about it other than I got it from a good friend that was moving and the inside of the lamp shade had a little leopard print thing going for it. Other than that, it was just black: Black base, Black shade, just<span class="Apple-style-span"> BLACK</span><b>.</b> And I have nothing in my room that's black so it stuck out- and not in a good way. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">So, after some green spray paint, burlap, hot glue and a few fun<span class="Apple-style-span"><i> flowers</i></span>, I now have an awesome lamp that I love to show off!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><img src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-YhHmwgyL_1k/TYIxZNTELAI/AAAAAAAABis/2hh0daYEASA/s320/crafts%2B011.jpg" style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 242px; height: 320px;" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5585080797028953090" /><div style="text-align: center;">I added this little fabric ruffle on the bottom to hide where the burlap was uneven. </div><div><br /></div><img src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-oOtTNC2hwPk/TYIxY2FWUEI/AAAAAAAABik/wG4_lwflXtI/s320/crafts%2B009.jpg" style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5585080790797406274" /><div><div style="text-align: center;">I just stuck the flowers on with tape so I can change it if I want to... </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><img src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TO96UWaNIB0/TYIxYrS2RcI/AAAAAAAABic/4OZlpox-4p4/s320/crafts%2B007.jpg" style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 230px; height: 320px;" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5585080787901236674" /><div><div style="text-align: center;">The lamp looks great next to my new chair (still deciding if I'm keeping that fabric on the cushion) and now I have a great little reading spot in my bedroom!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">*******</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">I got a little <span class="Apple-style-span"><i>carried away </i></span>making those flowers, so I used some extras on a wreath for the front door. I felt kind of bad not purchasing it from the artist, but I'm all about borrowing great ideas from other people and claiming them for my own :-) <div><br /><br /><div style="MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; TEXT-ALIGN: center">Here are the supplies.</div><div style="MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; TEXT-ALIGN: center"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_W2qSDudrqzI/TUwgwEOZ_UI/AAAAAAAABg0/7eTugg4N1uk/s1600/DSC_0189.JPG"><img alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_W2qSDudrqzI/TUwgwEOZ_UI/AAAAAAAABg0/7eTugg4N1uk/s320/DSC_0189.JPG" border="0" /></a> </div><div style="MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; TEXT-ALIGN: center"><span style="font-size:85%;"><em>Helpful tip: Chick-<span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">Fil</span>-A always makes projects more fun!<br /></em></span></div><br /><br /><div align="center">I went to the local thrift store to find the molds and pie pan. As much as I loved the scrapbook paper behind the glass, I thought I would try it without. But I couldn't just leave a plain window up there.<br /><br />I remembered I had these old shutters from the college days. We had them hanging by the phone and would write in numbers of our friends. </div><div style="MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; TEXT-ALIGN: center"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_W2qSDudrqzI/TUwdpX6Dg_I/AAAAAAAABgM/pvSA1bRYJ8A/s1600/IMG_2798.JPG"><img alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_W2qSDudrqzI/TUwdpX6Dg_I/AAAAAAAABgM/pvSA1bRYJ8A/s320/IMG_2798.JPG" border="0" /></a></div><div style="MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; TEXT-ALIGN: center">This was back in the day when people had home phones and you didn't rely on your cell phone to store all your numbers.<br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5569859989075486066" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_W2qSDudrqzI/TUweJlGBZXI/AAAAAAAABgk/ADez7Uop38k/s320/IMG_2799.JPG" border="0" /><br />It was kind of fun looking back over those numbers...<br /><br />I knew I wanted to do something fun with the shutters so I had the genius idea to use the shutters for what they actually were made for: windows!<br /><br />I painted the shutters to match my <a href="http://kindallscreations.blogspot.com/2010/05/this-vanity-was-red-and-now-its-blue.html">vanity</a> and hung them on either side of the window.<br /><br /><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_W2qSDudrqzI/TUwdplamCeI/AAAAAAAABgU/ARzbM4UQn5I/s1600/DSC_0228.JPG"><img alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_W2qSDudrqzI/TUwdplamCeI/AAAAAAAABgU/ARzbM4UQn5I/s320/DSC_0228.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br />I liked it, but it was missing something. I added a few vinyl stickers and then found this garland that I had been keeping for no apparent reason! I hung it above the window and I really like the way it turned out!</div><br /><br /><div style="CLEAR: both; TEXT-ALIGN: center"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5569859992344753138" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 214px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_W2qSDudrqzI/TUweJxRec_I/AAAAAAAABgs/vyV-3nxm0yo/s320/DSC_0239.JPG" border="0" /></div></div><br /><p align="center">So far I like it.
